The ISCAR 5505149 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for high-productivity hole-making in demanding machining applications. Part of the IDI-SG series, this insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process and an IC908 manufacturer grade with submicron carbide substrate. The 140-degree included drill point angle with web thinning reduces entry force and improves centering. At 0.750 inches cutting diameter with a functional length of 0.198 inches and overall height of 0.335 inches, this insert seats into compatible IDI-SG drill bodies and is installed by machining professionals in CNC turning and machining center environments.
This replaceable tip drill insert is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, and H. The IDI-SG system is used in production machining shops, tool rooms, and maintenance environments where consistent bore geometry and efficient insert changes are required. The slow spiral flute design and thinned point geometry support controlled chip evacuation in these material groups. Insert seat size 19 and ISO number IDI 1905-SG are relevant when selecting the matching drill body or body holder.
Designed for use with compatible IDI-SG series drill bodies accepting insert seat size 19, per ISO number IDI 1905-SG. Verify body compatibility with the drill body manufacturer before ordering.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the drill body and insert seat are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Use the appropriate torx or insert-clamping key specified by the drill body manufacturer and follow the recommended clamping torque procedure from the body documentation. Inspect the insert seat for wear or damage at each insert change to maintain bore accuracy and prevent premature insert failure.
