The ISCAR 5505126 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TNMG 431-TF geometry, coated with TiAlN and TiN via a PVD process under the IC907 manufacturer grade. Part of the Isoturn series, this triangular insert features a 60-degree included angle, a positive rake, and a neutral 0-degree relief angle. It measures 22 millimeters (0.866 inches) in length with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. The TF chip breaker geometry controls chip flow across a wide range of turning applications. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators install this insert in compatible toolholders for external and internal turning operations.
This insert is suited for turning operations across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and cast iron, as indicated by primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The IC907 grade and PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating combination supports general-purpose turning where wear resistance and edge stability are priorities. Typical applications include finish to semi-finish turning in production CNC environments. The TF chip breaker accommodates varying feed rates and depths, with a maximum depth of cut rated at 3.50 millimeters (0.138 inches).
Designed for use in TNMG-style toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with a 0.203-inch hole diameter. Compatible with material grades C1, C2, C6, and C7 per the Isoturn series specifications. Refer to toolholder manufacturer documentation to confirm seating and clamping compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Secure the insert using the appropriate clamp or pin system as specified by the toolholder manufacturer, and verify that the insert is fully seated before resuming operation. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut during initial test cuts.
