The ISCAR 5505024 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the IDI-SG series, designed for high-productivity drilling in demanding metalworking applications. The drill tip features a solid carbide construction with an IC908 submicron-grade substrate and a TiAlN finish applied via PVD coating, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability under aggressive cutting conditions. The included angle measures 140 degrees, and the cutting diameter is 0.594 inches (19/32 inch). The tip uses a slow-spiral, two-flute design with a web-thinned point for reduced thrust and improved chip evacuation. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractors are not the audience here - this part is installed by machining professionals and CNC operators in metal fabrication and production environments.
The ISCAR 5505024 is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. The IDI-SG replaceable tip system allows fast tip changes at the machine without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing downtime in production settings. The SG insert geometry and general-purpose style make this tip appropriate for a wide range of hole-making operations in both horizontal and vertical machining centers. This is a replacement tip only - an IDI-SG compatible drill body is required.
Designed for use with ISCAR IDI-SG series drill bodies that accept insert seat size 15. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO groups P, M, K, S, H). ISO number reference: IDI 151-SG. Coolant-through capability is not supported by this tip.
Installation is performed by machining professionals following the drill body manufacturer torque and seating guidelines for the IDI-SG tip interface. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before changing the replaceable tip. Use the appropriate ISCAR torque key for the twist-lock holding method - do not substitute standard hex tools. Inspect the insert seat for debris or damage before seating the new tip.
