The ISCAR 5504737 is a VNMG332TF IC507 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal-turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Coated with TiCN and TiN via a PVD process, this insert delivers wear resistance and edge integrity across a range of workpiece materials. The 35-degree diamond shape (V) with a neutral 0-degree relief angle and positive rake geometry suits finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface finish matter. The IC507 grade targets steel, stainless, high-temperature alloys, and cast iron applications. At 0.6535 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, the insert fits standard VNMG toolholders used in production and job-shop turning. Machinists and CNC operators in metalworking environments are the primary users.
This insert is suited for turning operations on steel (P), stainless steel (M), and high-temperature alloys (S) per ISO material group classifications. The TF chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation during finishing cuts at moderate feed rates and depths of cut up to 0.138 inches. It is part of the Isoturn series, which covers a broad range of external and internal turning applications in production machining environments. The PVD TiCN and TiN coating preserves sharp edge geometry, making this insert appropriate for close-tolerance work where edge sharpness directly affects dimensional output.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for VNMG332TF style inserts in standard VNMG toolholders. Compatible with toolholders rated for C6 and C7 material grades per ISO 13399 classification. Verify toolholder pocket dimensions and clamping style before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or indexing the insert. Clean the toolholder pocket of chips and debris before placing the insert to ensure proper seating against the pocket walls. Use the appropriate torque wrench for the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not over-torque, as this can fracture the insert body.
