The ISCAR 3399048 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECAI-B3-EC series, designed for high-performance milling of non-ferrous metals. The tool measures 5/16 inches (0.312 inches) in mill diameter with a 3-inch overall length and a 1-inch length of cut. A 0.015-inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in both roughing and finishing operations. The DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) PVD coating provides low friction and high surface hardness, making it well suited for aluminum, copper, brass, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials. Three right-hand spiral flutes with a coarse pitch promote chip evacuation in aggressive cuts.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where non-ferrous metal stock removal and finishing are performed in a single setup. The extended-reach geometry and long-length classification allow access to deeper features or pockets without tool interference. It accepts a straight cylindrical toolholder with a 5/16-inch bore. The single-end, centercutting design supports plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. Machinists in job shops, production facilities, and toolrooms working with aluminum or other N-grade materials will find this geometry particularly effective.
Designed for use with straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 5/16-inch shank diameter. Part of the ISCAR ECAI-B3-EC series; the manufacturers catalog number for this configuration is ECAI-B3 .312-1CR015-3EC. Intended for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials (material code N).
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using a toolholder collet or end mill holder rated for the 5/16-inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Set tool runout within the tolerance specified by the machining program, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide end mills. Verify cutting parameters — speed, feed, and depth of cut — are appropriate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity before beginning a cut.
