The ISCAR 3398642 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-5-VF series, designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 3/4-inch mill diameter, a 1-1/4-inch length of cut, and five flutes arranged in a variable index, right-hand spiral configuration. The cutting edge carries a PVD-applied AlTiCrSiN coating, which delivers thermal and wear resistance well-suited to hard and abrasive workpiece materials. Overall length is 4 inches with a straight-cylindrical shank also measuring 3/4 inch in diameter. This tool is sized and coated for roughing and finishing operations in a single pass.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers with a compatible toolholder. Its primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The extended reach design, with a reach length of 2 inches, makes it suitable for accessing deeper features and pockets while maintaining rigidity. The short-flute, long-reach geometry positions this tool for shops running aggressive toolpaths on difficult alloys where tool life and surface finish both matter. It is a single-end tool intended for professional machine shop use.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H). Part of the ISCAR ECI-5-VF series. Manufacturers catalog number ECI-5 .75-1.25/2.CVF4.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cutting cycle, particularly when operating at elevated spindle speeds with hard workpiece materials.
