The ISCAR 3398637 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-5-VF series, designed for high-demand material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The cutter measures 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch) in diameter with a 1 inch length of cut and a 6 inch overall length. It carries an AlTiCrSiN PVD coating applied by physical vapor deposition, which adds thermal and wear resistance during aggressive cutting cycles. With 5 flutes, a variable index geometry, and a right-hand spiral flute configuration, this end mill suits both roughing and finishing passes. It is installed and run by machinists and CNC operators in production or job-shop environments.
The 3398637 is a short-length, extended-reach design with a 4 inch reach length, making it well suited for accessing deeper pockets or features while maintaining rigidity. The straight-cylindrical shank is 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch) diameter with an h6 tolerance, seating accurately in standard collet chucks and toolholders. Normal pitch combined with variable index angles helps reduce chatter during both slotting and profiling operations. Primary applications include machining P, M, K, S, and H material grades — covering general steels through difficult-to-machine superalloys and hardened materials. This is a single-end tool; it is not centercutting and does not have a chipbreaker or coolant-through capability.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as designated by material codes P, M, K, S, and H. Manufacturers catalog reference: ECI-5 .625-1./4.CVF6.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool path program verified before loading this end mill into the toolholder. Ensure the collet or chuck is clean and undamaged before seating the shank to full engagement depth. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and any applicable shop safety standards for tool-change procedures and clamping torque specifications.
