The ISCAR 3398559 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding metal removal in both roughing and finishing operations. It carries a 3/8 inch mill diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a variable index design that reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and surface hardness suited to high-temperature alloys and hard materials. With a 4 inch overall length and extended reach geometry, this tool fits CNC machining centers and manual mills where rigidity and tool life in difficult materials are priorities. Licensed machinists and toolroom professionals are the primary users.
This end mill is designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The short flute length of 3/4 inch combined with a 2.125 inch reach length makes it well suited for shoulder milling, slotting, and profiling in materials that demand a high-performance submicron carbide substrate. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures secure, repeatable clamping in standard collet chucks and shrink-fit toolholders. It is part of the ECI-5-VF series, which is built around a normal pitch, right-hand cutting, right-hand spiral flute configuration for consistent chip evacuation.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders including collet chucks and shrink-fit holders accepting a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance. Intended for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as listed in the ECI-5-VF series material application guidelines.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following shop safety procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Confirm toolholder bore and collet size match the 3/8 inch shank diameter before clamping. Do not exceed the manufacturer-rated depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and machine spindle specifications.
