The ISCAR 3398557 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-5-VF series, designed for high-performance material removal across roughing and finishing operations. It features a 3/4 inch diameter with a 0.015 inch corner radius, five right-hand spiral flutes with a variable index geometry, and a PVD-applied AlTiCrSiN coating for wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The 1-1/4 inch length of cut and 3 inch reach length make it well suited for cavities and deep-shoulder work. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments install this tool in standard straight-shank toolholders.
This end mill is built for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The short flute length paired with the extended reach configuration keeps deflection low when accessing deep features. The submicron carbide grade and AlTiCrSiN coating support sustained tool life in demanding aerospace, die-and-mold, and general machining applications. The variable index flute spacing helps reduce harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts, making it effective in both light finishing passes and heavier roughing strategies on the same setup.
Designed for use with straight-shank cylindrical toolholders. Suitable for CNC machining centers running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard workpiece materials. Manufacturer catalog reference ECI-5 .75-1.3/3.C.015VF5.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by qualified machining personnel with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before the first cut. Do not exceed the tool reach without verifying deflection and chatter characteristics at the intended feed and speed.
