The ISCAR 3398438 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-5-VF series, designed for high-performance material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It features a 0.75 inch mill diameter, a 2.25 inch length of cut, and a 0.0600 inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and extends tool life in demanding applications. The five-flute geometry supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool, while the AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides thermal and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. Licensed machinists and CNC machine operators are the primary installers and users of this tooling.
This end mill is built for use in vertical and horizontal machining centers with standard toolholders accepting a 0.75 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance. Its extended reach design, with a 2.25 inch reach length and 5 inch overall length, makes it well suited for deep-cavity milling, shoulder milling, and profiling operations where standard-length tools cannot access the workpiece geometry. The variable index feature contributes to chatter reduction during heavy cuts, making it applicable to both production and job-shop environments machining ferrous and exotic alloy components.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 0.75 inch straight-cylindrical shank (h6 tolerance). Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Part of the ISCAR ECI-5-VF series; manufacturers catalog number ECI-5 .75-2.25C.06VF5.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates flute wear and reduces surface finish quality on corner-radius tools.
