The ISCAR 3398436 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-5-VF series, designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. It features a 0.625 inch mill diameter, a 0.0600 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a variable index configuration and a 38-degree helix angle. The cutting geometry is optimized for both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting speeds. A straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures accurate seating in standard toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC operators will find this tool well suited to production environments where long reach and precise corner geometry are required.
This end mill is designed for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. The long-length configuration provides 2.5 inch reach with a 2.5 inch length of cut, making it applicable in deep-cavity milling, shoulder milling, and finishing operations where shorter tools cannot reach. It mounts directly into compatible toolholders and is engineered for right-hand cutting with right-hand flute direction. The submicron carbide grade contributes to edge stability in interrupted cuts and abrasive workpiece materials.
Designed for use with standard cylindrical toolholders accepting a 0.625 inch straight shank with h6 tolerance, per the ECI-5-VF series specification. Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO groups P, M, K, S, H). Refer to ISCAR catalog number ECI-5 .625-2.5C.06VF5 for toolholder pairing and cutting parameter tables.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Confirm toolholder bore cleanliness and shank runout are within tolerance before clamping to maintain the h6 shank fit. Do not use this tool in a center-cutting application, as this end mill is not center-cutting.
