The ISCAR 3398407 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 2 inch reach length, and a 0.03 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life. The 5-flute geometry with variable index supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. An AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures. This end mill belongs to the ECI-5-VF series and is built from submicron-grade carbide for edge integrity under aggressive cutting conditions. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tool in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
This end mill is engineered for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. The long-length configuration with a 1.875 inch length of cut and 4 inch overall length provides extended reach into deep pockets and cavities where standard-length tools cannot access. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation are standard for conventional CNC milling setups. A straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures a secure fit in compatible toolholders. This tool is suited for both production shops and job shops running difficult-to-machine alloys.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per the ECI-5-VF series application guidelines provided by ISCAR.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is handled with appropriate protection before mounting. Secure the shank to the manufacturer-specified clamping torque for the toolholder type in use. Verify tool runout with a dial indicator after mounting and before initiating a cut, particularly given the extended reach configuration.
