The ISCAR 3398185 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-4-VF series, designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 0.09 inch corner radius, and 4 flutes with a variable index geometry. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides thermal and wear resistance during aggressive cuts in hard and abrasive materials. At 4 inches overall length with a 2 inch length of cut and 2 inch reach, this is a long-reach tool suited for deep-pocket and extended-reach operations. The 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures consistent, precise seating in standard toolholders.
This end mill is engineered for roughing and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The single-end, centercutting configuration allows plunge entry, and the right-hand spiral flute direction with variable index geometry helps reduce chatter during interrupted or full-slot cuts. Typical install scenarios include CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and multi-axis platforms where extended reach into cavities or deep features is required. The submicron carbide grade supports high-speed and high-feed strategies on difficult workpiece materials.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch cylindrical shank. Suitable for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per the ECI-4-VF series application guidelines. Manufacturers catalog number ECI-4 500-2.0C09VF4.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool path verified before mounting. Secure the shank to the specified toolholder torque per the toolholder manufacturer's instructions. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning any cutting operation, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on the carbide cutting edges.
