The ISCAR 3398092 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. Part of the ECI-4-VF series, this tool features a 0.5 inch diameter, a 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 0.03 inch corner radius. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting temperatures. With a variable index geometry and four right-hand spiral flutes, it handles both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. This tool is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals running CNC milling operations on ferrous and exotic workpiece materials.
The 3398092 is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The extended reach configuration, 1.5 inch reach length, and medium-length classification make it effective for pocketing, slotting, and profiling operations where standard-reach tools cannot access the full feature depth. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance mounts directly into compatible collet chucks and hydraulic or shrink-fit toolholders. Single-end, centercutting geometry allows plunge entry and lateral feed without tool changes.
Designed for use with standard collet chuck, hydraulic, or shrink-fit toolholders accepting a 0.5 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 diameter tolerance. Catalog number ECI-4 500-1.5C03VF4.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or locked-out state per applicable machine guarding and OSHA lockout-tagout requirements. Confirm shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque range. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; apply flood or mist coolant externally at the cutting zone when machining heat-sensitive alloys.
