The ISCAR 3398040 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the ECI-4-VF series, engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 5/8-inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/4-inch length of cut, and a 0.015-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the tool tip and extends service life. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness at the cutting edge, making this end mill well-suited for aggressive feeds and speeds. With a right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute direction, and variable index geometry, it delivers both roughing and finishing capability in a single tool.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines where tight tolerances and surface finish requirements apply. Its submicron carbide grade and extended reach design make it effective when machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance mounts directly into standard toolholders. The short flute length and 3-1/2-inch overall length suit applications where rigidity and reduced deflection are priorities, such as shoulder milling, slot milling, and profiling in ferrous and high-temp alloy workpieces.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 5/8-inch shank diameter with h6 tolerance. ISCAR catalog reference ECI-4 625-1.2C015VF3.5 applies to this part. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per ISO workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, and H.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool change position is engaged before inserting or removing the end mill from its holder. Verify toolholder bore cleanliness and confirm the shank seats fully to the correct gauge line before tightening. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for the collet or set-screw style toolholder being used.
