The ISCAR 3398029 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding metal-removal applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Part of the ECI-4-VF series, it features a 1/2-inch cutting diameter, a 0.015-inch corner radius, and four flutes arranged in a variable index, right-hand spiral configuration. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating delivers high heat and wear resistance, making this tool well suited for both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. Material grade is submicron carbide, providing edge toughness at elevated cutting speeds.
This end mill is designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where consistent edge geometry and chip evacuation are critical. The 7/8-inch length of cut and 2-1/8-inch reach length allow access to moderate-depth features without excessive tool deflection. Its centercutting geometry permits direct plunge entry. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance mounts directly to standard toolholders used in production and job-shop environments. Machinists and CNC programmers working on aerospace, die-mold, and general metalworking applications will find this tool appropriate for tight-tolerance contouring and profiling.
Compatible with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch cylindrical shank. Manufacturer catalog number ECI-4 500-875/2.12C015VF4 can be used for cross-reference when sourcing replacement tooling or verifying fitment with existing holders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Verify shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut. Do not exceed the reach length when programming tool paths, as overhang beyond the rated reach increases deflection and reduces tool life.
