The ISCAR 3398022 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It features a 3/8 inch mill diameter, four flutes with a variable index design, and a 0.015 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the tool tip and extends edge life. The AlTiCrSiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection during both roughing and finishing operations. At 5 inches overall length with an extra-long 2.5 inch reach, this centercutting end mill is suited for deep-cavity and extended-reach applications where standard-length tools fall short. Machining professionals and CNC programmers select this tool for high-productivity work in difficult-to-cut materials.
This end mill is appropriate for use in CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers across a broad range of metalworking applications. Its right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flutes and normal pitch geometry make it effective for slotting, profiling, and contour milling in steel and exotic alloys. The submicron carbide substrate and AlTiCrSiN coating support performance in hardened materials and superalloys where tool wear is accelerated. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance mounts directly into standard collet chucks and hydraulic toolholders. It is cataloged under the ISCAR ECI-4-VF series, part number ECI-4 375-2.5C015VF5.
Designed for use with standard collet chuck and hydraulic toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance. Part of the ISCAR ECI-4-VF series; manufacturer catalog number ECI-4 375-2.5C015VF5. Suitable for P, M, K, S, and H material application codes as defined by ISO workpiece classification.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool change interlock is engaged before loading or removing the end mill. Verify toolholder runout with a dial indicator before first use, as excess runout accelerates edge wear on fine-radius tools. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures for speeds, feeds, and coolant strategy when working with carbide tooling in hard or exotic alloys.
