The ISCAR 3347720 is a single-end carbide cutoff and grooving insert in the Tang-Grip series, designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 3.00 mm (0.1180 inch) cutting width with a neutral lead angle and a HF chipbreaker geometry suited for high-feed finish applications. The insert is manufactured in ISCAR grade IC808, a PVD-coated carbide grade with a TiAlN/AlTiN/TiN multilayer coating that delivers wear resistance across a wide range of workpiece materials. It is installed and replaced by machinists and CNC operators performing production turning work.
This insert is intended for grooving and parting applications in both production and job-shop turning environments. The Tang-Grip self-grip holding method provides secure, repeatable seating in compatible Tang-Grip toolholders without additional clamping hardware. The HF chipbreaker is optimized for finishing passes at moderate to high feed rates. The insert carries a universal primary workpiece material designation, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S, making it applicable across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, hardened materials, and superalloys in a single insert grade.
Designed for use in ISCAR Tang-Grip series toolholders that accept TAG N3 style inserts. Compatible with workpiece materials across ISO groups H, K, M, P, and S as specified by the IC808 grade designation.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians following standard turning insert change procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe indexed position before removing or seating the insert. The self-grip Tang-Grip holding method requires no additional clamp; confirm the insert is fully seated in the pocket before resuming operation. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machine guarding requirements when servicing live tooling stations.
