The ISCAR 3346717 is a CXMG-style solid carbide turning insert from the Logiq4turn series, designed for precision turning operations on stainless steel and carbon steel workpieces. It carries the IC8250 manufacturer grade and features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal protection at the cutting edge. The insert has a diamond shape (C) with an 80-degree included angle, a 0.8 mm corner radius, and a positive rake geometry. It is installed and replaced by CNC machinists and turning center operators performing roughing and semi-finishing passes on ferrous materials.
This insert is suited for turning applications on stainless steel (ISO material group M) and steel (ISO material group P) in both production shop and job-shop environments. The M3P chip breaker geometry is optimized to control chip formation during moderate to heavy cuts, with a maximum depth of cut of 4.20 mm. It conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards, making it compatible with digital tool management and presetter systems. Typical applications include external turning on CNC lathes and turning centers where consistent edge life and chip control on ferrous alloys are priorities.
Designed for use in CXMG-compatible turning toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel (ISO group M) and carbon and alloy steel (ISO group P). Consult ISCAR Logiq4turn toolholder specifications to confirm seat and clamping compatibility before installation.
Turning inserts of this type are seated and clamped by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer for the clamping screw — do not over-torque, as this can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for damage or debris before seating the new insert, and confirm correct orientation of the chip breaker geometry relative to the intended cutting direction.
