The ISCAR 3332678 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal UNJ thread cutting at 12 threads per inch. Built from solid carbide with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, it delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert uses the 16IR style with a 3/8 inch (9.52 mm) inscribed circle and a 0.005 inch (0.12 mm) corner radius. It is part of the ISCARTHREAD series and carries the IC806 manufacturer grade. Machinists and CNC lathe operators use this insert for precision internal threading on hardened steels, stainless alloys, and high-temp alloys.
This insert is suited for internal UNJ thread profiles at a 12 mm pitch on CNC lathes and turning centers. The UNJ standard specifies a controlled root radius, making it common in aerospace and high-strength fastener applications. The right-hand orientation fits standard internal threading toolholders that accept 16IR-style laydown inserts. The IC806 grade is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering hardened steels, stainless, and superalloys as indicated by workpiece material codes H, N, and S.
Designed as a laydown threading insert compatible with internal threading toolholders accepting 16IR-style inserts within the ISCARTHREAD series system.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists on CNC lathes or turning centers. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or clamping screw specified for the toolholder to secure the insert properly. Verify thread profile and pitch match the workpiece drawing before commencing the threading pass.
