The ISCAR 3313135 is a solid carbide triangular milling insert carrying ANSI designation HM390 TDCR 150520PDFR-P IC28. It belongs to the HELI3MILL series and is designed for use in HM390-15 series milling cutters. The insert features a positive rake geometry with a helical cutting edge style, delivering smooth chip formation in non-ferrous metal applications. The IC28 grade is uncoated bright carbide, optimized for cutting aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. With three cutting edges and a right-hand orientation, the insert delivers a maximum depth of cut of 0.5118 inches and a corner radius of 0.0787 inches. It is held in the cutter body by a screw clamp method.
This insert is suited for face milling and shoulder milling operations on non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, and copper alloys. The P chip breaker geometry manages chip evacuation effectively at higher feed rates typical of non-ferrous machining. The single-sided design and positive rake promote reduced cutting forces, making this insert a fit for light to medium roughing and finishing passes in production and job-shop environments. Machinists and tooling engineers working with HM390-15 compatible toolholders will find this a direct-fit replacement or supplemental insert supply.
Designed for use with HM390-15 series milling cutter bodies. ANSI code HM390 TDCR 150520PDFR-P IC28; ISO code HM390 TDCR 150520PDFR-P. Verify insert pocket geometry and screw specification against the specific cutter body before ordering.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not over-torque, as this can crack the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper insert indexing and runout.
