The ISCAR 3309416 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation FFQ4 SOMT 120516HP IC882. It is a square, single-sided insert designed for the MILL4FEED series of high-feed milling cutters. The insert features a positive rake geometry with a neutral hand orientation and delivers four usable cutting edges per insert. It is coated via a PVD process with a multilayer AlTiN, TiAlSiN, and TiSiN coating stack under the IC882 grade designation. Primary applications target stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It is held in the cutter body by a screw clamp and is suited for CNC milling operations performed by machinists and tooling professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for high-feed face and profile milling of difficult-to-machine materials including austenitic and duplex stainless steels, nickel-based superalloys, and titanium alloys. The HP chip breaker geometry is optimized to manage heat and chip flow in these demanding material groups. The insert fits ISCAR FFQ4-series cutter bodies and is appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes where controlled depth of cut and aggressive feed rates are required. It is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of ten units per order.
Designed for use with ISCAR FFQ4-series high-feed milling cutter bodies. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards with the designation FFQ4 SOMT 120516HP IC882.
Installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the screw to the body manufacturer's recommended torque. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert, as contamination can cause uneven seating and premature edge failure. Follow the cutter body manufacturer's programmed feed and speed recommendations for the IC882 grade when setting up the machining operation.
