The ISCAR 3302687 is a CNMG643-R3M turning insert in ISCAR grade IC806, designed for indexable turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide with an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process, using ISCAR proprietary SumoTec surface treatment to enhance coating adhesion and edge performance. It features an 80-degree diamond shape (shape code C), a 1.2 mm corner radius (0.047 inches), a positive rake geometry, and the R3M chip breaker configuration. The inscribed circle measures 19.05 mm (0.750 inches) and insert length is 19.34 mm (0.761 inches). Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct indexable cutting tool for external and facing turning passes.
The CNMG643-R3M geometry with IC806 grade is engineered primarily for machining ISO material group S workpieces, which includes heat-resistant superalloys and titanium alloys. These are demanding applications typically found in aerospace, power generation, and industrial component manufacturing. The insert fits standard CNMG-style toolholders configured for right-hand cutting. The Isoturn series designation indicates compatibility with ISCAR Isoturn external turning toolholder bodies that accept CNMG 643 inserts. Maximum depth of cut is 9.00 mm (0.354 inches), making it suited for medium to semi-rough turning passes on difficult-to-machine materials.
Designed for use in ISCAR Isoturn series right-hand external turning toolholders that accept CNMG 643 insert geometry. Consult ISCAR toolholder selection guides for matching pocket seats to CNMG 643-R3M inserts.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer specification when tightening the clamp screw. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping cutting edges prior to use.
