The ISCAR 3300278 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision groove turning and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the MIFR15-2.50-0.20 ISO designation and is manufactured from fine-grain carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating in the IC908 grade. The insert delivers a 2.5 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 15 mm, making it well suited for shallow to medium-depth grooving work. The 0.20 mm corner radius helps control chip formation and surface finish. This insert belongs to the Min-Cut series and is installed and changed out by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians.
This insert is intended for grooving, parting, and profiling operations in a wide range of workpiece materials. The IC908 grade with TiAlN PVD coating is rated for universal application, covering steels, stainless steels, cast irons, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous materials, as indicated by the primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The right-hand orientation suits standard lathe configurations. It fits clamping or screw-style insert holders designed for the MIFR 15-series seat geometry within the ISCAR Min-Cut tooling system.
Designed for use in ISCAR Min-Cut series toolholders accepting the MIFR 15-series insert seat. Compatible holder systems use clamp or screw retention. No additional specific compatible model numbers were provided in the product data.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before installation, as debris under the insert seat will affect cutting geometry and can cause premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw; do not over-torque, as this can crack the carbide insert body.
