The ISCAR 2801629 is a solid carbide, internal right-hand indexable grooving toolholder designed for precision internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the ISCAR ChamGroove series, it accepts GIQ-series indexable inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method, providing repeatable insert positioning across the full 0.5 mm to 5 mm groove width range. The toolholder features through-coolant capability, directing cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone for improved chip evacuation and tool life. With an 8 mm shank diameter and a 76 mm overall length, the 2801629 is a compact, high-rigidity solution for internal grooving in a variety of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this toolholder in standard 8 mm boring bar pockets.
The ISCAR 2801629 is suited for internal non-face grooving applications across a universal range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, N, S, and H. Its compact shank and overall length make it practical for small-diameter internal grooving where clearance is limited. The through-coolant design makes it especially effective in production turning environments where consistent chip flushing is critical to maintaining bore finish quality and dimensional accuracy.
The 2801629 is compatible with the following ISCAR GIQ-series inserts: GIQR/L 11, GIQR/L 11-15, GIQR/L 11-15-R, GIQR/L-11-R, GIQR/L-A18, GIQR/L-B18, GIQR/L-MT, and GIQR/L-WT. Compatible insert size code is GIQR/L 11/11-15. Catalog reference: MGCH 08C.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all energy sources are locked out before mounting or removing the toolholder from the turret. Seat the 8 mm shank fully in the tool pocket and torque the clamping screws to the machine manufacturer's specified value for that pocket size. Verify through-coolant port alignment with the machine turret coolant supply before resuming operation.
