The ISCAR 2800948 is a right-hand MGSI-style indexable turning toolholder designed for threading operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide, this toolholder features a neutral rake angle of 0 degrees and an 8mm shank width (0.3150 inches). It accepts IL and WB.T 52.. series inserts secured by a screw-clamping method, providing repeatable insert positioning and rigid support during threading cuts. With an overall length of 72mm (2.8346 inches) and a back-of-bar to cutting edge measurement of 5mm, it fits compact tooling setups. Installation is handled by qualified machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This toolholder is part of the Isoturn series and is intended for threading applications in both production and job-shop turning environments. Its right-hand cutting direction suits standard lathe configurations. The multi-use design allows compatibility with a range of threading insert profiles. This holder is appropriate for use in external threading operations where consistent tool geometry and insert clamping rigidity are required. It does not include coolant-through capability, making it suited for dry or flood-coolant setups where through-tool delivery is not needed.
Compatible insert types include IR/L-55, IR/L-60, IR/L-ISO, IR/L-UN, and WBMT series inserts. The compatible insert size code is WBMT060101L, with an inscribed circle of 0.1560 inches. Also referenced under catalog number MGSIR L08-06W.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing toolholders or indexing inserts. Use appropriate torque on the clamping screw per the insert manufacturer's recommendation and verify insert seating before resuming cuts. Confirm shank fit and clamping force in the turret or tool block before initiating threading passes.
