The ISCAR 2500488 is an internal right-hand indexable grooving toolholder designed for precision internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the HELII toolholder style within the Heli-Grip series, it accepts GRIP and GRIP Full Radius inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method. The toolholder cuts grooves ranging from 0.157 to 0.187 inches wide at depths up to 0.472 inches. Through-coolant capability delivers cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone, extending insert life and improving chip evacuation in demanding applications. The 10-inch overall length and 1.5-inch shank diameter suit it for stable, rigid setups in production turning environments. Installed by machinists and toolroom technicians, this holder is built to ISO 13399 standards for tool data compatibility.
The ISCAR 2500488 is intended for internal grooving in bores with a minimum hole diameter of 2.08 inches. The toolholder is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S, which represent hardened materials, cast iron, stainless and high-temp alloys, non-ferrous materials, steel, and superalloys. This broad material range makes it well suited for general production turning as well as specialty alloy machining in aerospace, automotive, and industrial manufacturing environments. The center-to-cutting-edge dimension of 1.23 inches supports precise tool positioning within the bore.
Designed to accept GRIP and GRIP Full Radius series inserts. Compatible with CNC turning centers and lathes that accommodate a 1.5-inch diameter shank toolholder within the Heli-Grip system. ISO material compatibility codes H, K, M, N, P, and S are supported.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a full lockout/tagout state before toolholder exchange. Ensure the shank is seated fully in the turret or boring bar holder and secured to the machine manufacturer's specified clamping requirements. Confirm coolant line connections are tight and through-coolant passages are clear before resuming operation. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specification for the selected insert.
