The ISCAR 2301627 is a right-hand indexable grooving and cut-off toolholder in the PentaCut series, designed for precision groove machining and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts PENTA 24 series inserts secured by a screw-clamping mechanism, providing rigid insert retention during interrupted cuts and high-feed applications. The toolholder handles groove widths from 0.0197 inches to 0.125 inches with a maximum depth of cut of 0.256 inches. With an overall length of 5.0 inches and a 0.75-inch square shank, it fits standard tool blocks used in production turning environments. Designed for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in both job shop and production settings.
This toolholder is suited for grooving and cut-off applications across a range of workpiece materials on CNC and manual turning equipment. The PCH toolholder style accommodates a wide selection of PENTA 24 insert geometries, making it adaptable to threading profiles including UN, BSP, NPT, ISO, and metric thread forms as well as plain grooving and parting operations. It is built for shops requiring repeatable insert indexing and consistent groove geometry across high-volume runs.
Compatible insert size codes include PENTA 24-BSPT, PENTA 24-ISO, PENTA 24-MT, PENTA 24-NPT, PENTA 24-UN, PENTA 24-W, PENTA 24-WT, PENTA 24N-C, PENTA 24N-J, PENTA 24N-PF, PENTA 24N-PF/P, PENTA 24N-Z, PENTA 24R-C, PENTA 24R-P, PENTA 24R/L-J, and PENTA 24R/L-Z. MSC and manufacturer reference number: PCHR/L 19-24.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician during turret setup on a CNC or manual lathe. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw; do not overtighten. Verify tool centerline height and confirm insert geometry matches the intended grooving or threading application before resuming cuts.
