The IRWIN IR63906 is a high-speed steel jobber-length drill bit with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. The 3/32-inch drill diameter, 2.25-inch overall length, and 1.25-inch flute length make this a compact, standard jobber-format bit suited for production drilling and maintenance applications. The 135-degree split-point tip reduces walking on contact, allowing the bit to self-center without a pilot hole. Hardness is rated at 80 HRC. Licensed electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, and general tradespeople reach for this size for wire-clearance holes, pilot holes, and sheet metal work.
This drill bit fits standard 3-jaw drill chucks found on corded and cordless drills used across residential and light commercial trade work. It is well suited for drilling through sheet metal, conduit hangers, ductwork flanges, strut channel, and similar materials encountered in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing rough-in work. The compact jobber length provides a balance of reach and rigidity appropriate for hand-drill and drill-press use.
Designed for use in standard 3-jaw drill chucks; fits any corded or cordless drill or drill press accepting a 3/32-inch round-shank bit.
Install and remove drill bits only when the drill is powered off and the chuck is fully released. Secure workpieces with a clamp or vise before drilling to prevent spinning. Use appropriate cutting speed for the material being drilled — excessive speed can overheat HSS bits and reduce hardness. Eye protection is required during all drilling operations per standard jobsite safety practice.
