The IRWIN IR61132 is a carbide-tipped masonry drill bit designed for rotary drilling into concrete, brick, block, and similar masonry materials. The bit features a 5/8-inch cutting diameter and a 6-inch overall length, with a reduced 3/8-inch shank that allows it to fit standard chucks without adapters. The carbide tip is brazed to withstand the abrasive wear common in masonry applications. This is an economy-grade bit suited for general-purpose masonry work on residential and light commercial jobsites. Installation is typically performed by electricians, plumbers, and general contractors when running penetrations through masonry walls or slabs.
This bit is used wherever rotary drilling into masonry substrates is required. Common applications include drilling anchor holes, conduit penetrations, and pipe sleeve openings through poured concrete, CMU block, and brick. The economy design makes it a practical choice for occasional masonry drilling tasks where a high-cycle professional bit is not required. It is sold individually and packaged on a standard carded blister pack for retail or shop storage.
Designed for use with standard rotary drills accepting a 3/8-inch round shank. Suitable for drilling into concrete, brick, block, and other common masonry substrates.
This bit is installed in a standard keyless or keyed drill chuck — confirm the chuck accepts a 3/8-inch shank before use. Use rotary mode only; do not use hammer mode unless the bit is rated for it, as impact can damage a standard carbide-tipped bit. Allow the bit to cool periodically during extended drilling to prevent tip overheating and premature wear. Eye protection and dust control measures should be used when drilling masonry per applicable jobsite safety requirements.
