The IRWIN 9727ZR is a hex rethreading die designed to restore damaged or corroded metric threads on bolts, studs, and fasteners. It cuts an M6x1 metric coarse thread profile in the right-hand direction, making it a standard choice for repairing the most common metric fastener threads found in mechanical and industrial applications. The die body measures 1 inch across the hex flats, fitting standard die stocks and wrenches. Constructed from carbon steel, it provides adequate hardness for rethreading mild steel and similar materials. Licensed trades and maintenance technicians keep this die in rotation for field repair and shop work where thread restoration is faster than fastener replacement.
This die is used in residential and commercial maintenance, light industrial repair, and automotive service wherever M6x1 threaded fasteners are present. It is well suited for restoration work on machinery, equipment frames, plumbing fixtures, and structural hardware. The right-hand thread direction covers the vast majority of standard metric fastener applications. A die stock or adjustable wrench with a 1 inch hex opening is required to drive this die during use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement rethreading die for use with standard 1 inch hex die stocks compatible with metric coarse M6x1 thread profiles.
This die is used by mechanics, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals performing thread restoration work. Before rethreading, clean the fastener of debris, rust, and grease to reduce die wear and improve thread quality. Apply cutting oil to the fastener and die before and during use to extend die life and improve cut quality. Turn the die in short increments, backing off periodically to clear chips, following standard thread-chasing practice.
