The IRWIN 372156P5 is a 12-inch bi-metal reciprocating saw blade rated at 6 teeth per inch (TPI), built for cutting metal, wood, and nail-embedded wood. The bi-metal construction bonds a high-speed steel tooth edge to a flexible alloy steel body, giving the blade the tooth hardness needed for metal while resisting the flex fatigue that causes blade breakage during rough framing or demolition work. At 12 inches, it provides deep reach in tight wall cavities, floor assemblies, and structural members. Carpenters, remodelers, and demo crews are the primary users, though HVAC and plumbing trades regularly use blades of this type for cutting pipe and framing during rough-in work.
This blade is suited for general demolition, rough carpentry, and trade rough-in applications where mixed-material cutting is common. The 6 TPI count makes it an aggressive cutter optimized for faster stock removal through dimensional lumber, nail-embedded wood, and light to medium metal stock. It is not a fine-finish blade. Typical install scenarios include wall and floor demo, cutting through framing with embedded fasteners, and cross-cutting metal conduit or pipe in confined spaces where a full-size saw cannot reach.
Designed as a universal-shank replacement reciprocating saw blade compatible with most standard reciprocating saws used in residential and commercial trade applications.
Reciprocating saw blade replacement requires only that the saw be powered off and unplugged or the battery removed before changing the blade. Secure the blade in the clamp mechanism fully before operation and verify it is locked before making a cut. Blades of this type are consumables and should be inspected before each use and replaced when teeth are visibly stripped or the blade body shows cracks. Eye protection and work gloves are standard PPE for demolition cutting with reciprocating saws.
