The IPS 20000 is a point-of-use water leak detection and automatic shutoff kit designed for water heaters and similar plumbing appliances. When the included sensor detects moisture, the motorized lead-free ball valve closes immediately and an audible alarm sounds, stopping water flow before flood damage can spread. The valve is CNC-machined, full-port, and sized at 1/2 inch NPT male iron pipe by female iron pipe threading. The control unit runs on an included AC power supply, with an optional 4 AA battery backup to maintain protection during a power outage. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this device as a first line of defense against appliance-related water damage.
The IPS 20000 is suited for residential and light commercial water heater installations where automatic shutoff is required at the point of supply. The kit is also applicable to other plumbing fixtures and appliances fed by 1/2 inch NPT pipe. The included leak sensor measures 1.25 inches by 7.5 inches and mounts near the base of the appliance using the provided screws, drywall anchors, or the self-adhesive hook-and-loop pad. The pigtail output connects to Building Maintenance Systems (BMS) and transmits a relay signal to notify facilities personnel of an alarm condition and valve closure, making it suitable for monitored commercial environments as well.
Designed for point-of-use installation on water heaters and plumbing appliances supplied by 1/2 inch NPT pipe. The model number for this kit is FS12NPT.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the main water supply and relieve line pressure before removing existing supply connections and threading in the motorized ball valve. Position the leak sensor flat on the floor directly beneath or adjacent to the appliance where pooling water would first appear. Do not apply thread sealant in a manner that could obstruct the valve port or sensor contacts.
