The IPEX 9897020 is a 2-inch CPVC Schedule 80 socket union engineered for industrial and commercial piping systems that demand reliable chemical resistance and long service life. Made from Corzan chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), this union provides a removable, pressure-rated connection point in pipe runs where maintenance access or system break-down is required. The Schedule 80 wall thickness delivers greater pressure capacity than Schedule 40, making it appropriate for higher-pressure process lines. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters install this fitting in chemical processing, water treatment, and industrial fluid-handling applications.
This socket union is suited for systems handling acids, alcohols, alkalies, salt solutions, and halogens, where metal fittings are vulnerable to corrosion or galvanic attack. The Corzan CPVC material is immune to electrochemical and galvanic corrosion, making it equally effective in underground installations where corrosive soil conditions are present. It is also listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International for use with potable water, broadening its application range beyond strictly industrial settings. The fitting ships as part of the IPEX Corzan system, which covers pipe, valves, and fittings from a single manufacturer to ensure consistent dimensional standards across the assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for CPVC Schedule 80 piping systems. Compatible with other IPEX Corzan Schedule 80 pipe, valves, and fittings that share standard 2-inch socket dimensions.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified industrial pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Depressurize and drain the piping system completely before disassembling or installing any union fitting. Use only CPVC-rated solvent cement and primer on socket connections; do not substitute PVC cement, as it is not formulated for CPVC. Allow solvent-welded joints to cure fully per the cement manufacturer's instructions before returning the system to service.
