The IPEX 9897005 is a 1/2-inch CPVC Schedule 80 socket union engineered for industrial and chemical process piping systems. Made from Corzan chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), this union provides a removable, pressure-rated connection point in thermoplastic piping runs. Schedule 80 wall thickness gives it the structural integrity required in demanding service environments. It is installed by licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters working on systems that handle corrosive chemicals, acids, alcohols, salt solutions, and halogens where metal fittings would corrode or degrade over time.
This fitting is suited for industrial process piping, chemical handling systems, and potable water distribution where corrosion resistance and long service life are priorities. Corzan CPVC is listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International for potable water service, making it appropriate for both process and water treatment applications. Its smooth interior walls maintain flow efficiency over time because the material does not rust, pit, scale, or corrode. Residential and commercial plumbers as well as industrial pipefitters will find this fitting appropriate for a wide range of chemical-process and water-service installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/2-inch Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems in industrial process, chemical handling, and potable water applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified industrial pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes and the IPC. Depressurize and drain the piping system fully before disassembling or installing any union fitting. Use only CPVC-compatible solvent cement and primer rated for Schedule 80 service; allow full cure time before returning the line to pressure. Do not use petroleum-based lubricants or sealants on CPVC fittings, as they can degrade the material.
