The IPEX 9883020 is a Schedule 80 CPVC threaded nipple designed to connect two female-threaded (FPT) fittings in pressure piping systems. Measuring 3/4 inch in diameter and 2 inches in length, this nipple is molded from chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) with a design stress rating of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F. It supports a maximum continuous service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with tolerance for occasional exposure to boiling water at 212 degrees F. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in hot and cold water distribution, industrial process lines, and chemical handling systems where corrosion resistance is required.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications as well as industrial piping where CPVC Schedule 80 fittings are specified. Its all-plastic construction makes it appropriate for installations where metal corrosion is a concern, including potable water systems, chemical lines, and fire protection supply piping that calls for CPVC-rated components. The male NPT threads on both ends accept standard female-threaded fittings without the need for transition adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard component for CPVC Schedule 80 threaded piping systems accepting 3/4 inch NPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable plumbing code (IPC or local equivalent). Shut off and depressurize the supply line and drain the affected section before making any threaded connections. Use a CPVC-compatible thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for plastic fittings — avoid petroleum-based compounds that can degrade CPVC. Do not over-tighten; hand-tight plus one to two turns with a strap wrench is the standard practice for CPVC threaded joints.
