The IPEX 9882020 is a CPVC Schedule 80 threaded nipple designed to connect two female-threaded (FPT) fittings in industrial and commercial piping systems. Manufactured from Xirtec CPVC, this nipple measures 0.5 inches in diameter by 2 inches in length and carries a design stress rating of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F. It handles maximum service temperatures up to 200 degrees F under pressure, with occasional exposure to boiling water at 212 degrees F. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this nipple wherever a short FPT-to-FPT connection is required in chemical, hot water, or industrial process lines.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, industrial process piping, and hot water distribution systems where CPVC is specified. Its Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40, making it a common choice in systems that require higher pressure ratings or additional mechanical strength. The male-threaded ends accept standard FPT fittings on both sides for a straightforward assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard component for Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems using half-inch FPT connections in industrial, commercial, and residential plumbing applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing codes. Shut off system pressure and drain the affected line before threading the nipple into place. Use CPVC-compatible thread sealant or PTFE tape on the male threads — do not use petroleum-based pipe dopes, which can degrade CPVC material. Hand-tighten first, then apply wrench pressure carefully to avoid over-torquing the fitting threads.
