The IPEX 9861215 is a CPVC Schedule 80 threaded nipple rated for demanding hot-water and chemical-handling piping systems. Manufactured from Xirtec CPVC, this nipple measures 1-1/2 inches in diameter and 3 inches in length, with male NPT threads on both ends that connect two female threaded (FPT) fittings. CPVC construction supports a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under sustained pressure, with occasional tolerance up to 212 degrees F. The material carries a design stress rating of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F, making it suitable for Schedule 80 pressure applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of nipple in both commercial and residential hydronic, hot-water distribution, and industrial process lines.
This nipple is suited for use in hot and cold water distribution systems, chemical process piping, and industrial applications where corrosion resistance and elevated temperature performance are required. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40 fittings, making it a common choice for mechanical rooms, boiler-feed lines, and process installations where threaded connections are specified. Its compact 3-inch length makes it useful for close-quarter installations between valved assemblies or equipment ports.
Designed as an OEM-style Schedule 80 CPVC threaded nipple for use with standard 1-1/2 inch female NPT (FPT) threaded fittings, valves, and equipment ports in pressure piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or local amendments. Shut off and depressurize the system before making any threaded connections. Use a CPVC-compatible thread sealant or PTFE tape on the male threads; avoid petroleum-based pipe dopes that can degrade CPVC. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as CPVC is more sensitive to mechanical stress than metal pipe.
