The IPEX 9861175 is a Schedule 80 CPVC threaded nipple designed to connect two female-threaded (FPT) fittings in industrial and commercial piping systems. Sized at 1-1/4 inches by 6 inches, it is manufactured from Xirtec CPVC material rated for a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under continuous pressure, with occasional tolerance for boiling water at 212 degrees F. The base material carries a design stress rating of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F. Plumbers and pipefitters install this nipple where corrosion resistance and thermal performance are required in chemical, hot-water, or industrial service lines.
This nipple is suited for residential and commercial hot-water distribution, chemical processing lines, and industrial fluid-handling systems where metal corrosion is a concern. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40, making it a preferred choice in higher-demand applications. Both ends are threaded for direct connection to female-threaded valves, unions, or fittings without additional adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for Schedule 80 CPVC threaded piping systems using 1-1/4 inch nominal pipe size.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for CPVC piping systems. Shut off and depressurize the line before removing any existing fittings. Use a CPVC-rated thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for CPVC compatibility — do not use petroleum-based compounds, which can degrade CPVC. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as Schedule 80 CPVC can crack under excessive mechanical stress.
