The IPEX 9861174 is a Schedule 80 CPVC threaded nipple designed to connect two female threaded (FPT) fittings in pressurized piping systems. Measuring 1-1/4 inches in diameter and 5 inches in length, this nipple is manufactured from Xirtec CPVC material rated for a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with occasional exposure to boiling water at 212 degrees F. The material carries a design stress of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F, making it well suited for hot and cold water distribution, chemical handling, and industrial fluid systems where corrosion resistance is a primary concern.
This nipple is used in residential and commercial plumbing systems where threaded CPVC connections are required. Typical applications include hot and cold water supply lines, industrial process piping, and corrosive fluid handling where metal pipe would degrade over time. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in Schedule 80 CPVC systems that demand higher pressure ratings and greater wall thickness than Schedule 40 pipe.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC threaded piping systems requiring a 1-1/4-inch male-threaded nipple.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before making or breaking any threaded connections. Use a CPVC-compatible thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for use with plastic fittings — never use solvent-based compounds not approved for CPVC. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as Schedule 80 CPVC can crack under excessive mechanical stress.
