The IPEX 9861170 is a Schedule 80 CPVC close nipple used to connect two female threaded (FPT) fittings in industrial and commercial piping systems. Manufactured from Xirtec CPVC, it is rated for a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with occasional exposure to boiling water at 212 degrees F. The material carries a design stress of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F. Its short face-to-face length makes it the right choice in tight-clearance installations where a standard nipple will not fit. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in chemical, hot-water, and industrial process lines.
This close nipple is suited for residential and commercial plumbing systems handling hot and cold water, as well as industrial process piping where corrosion resistance is a priority. The 1-1/4-inch nominal pipe size and 1-5/8-inch overall length make it appropriate for moderate-flow domestic hot-water distribution lines, boiler feed piping, and chemical-handling systems where metal corrosion is a concern. No specific model compatibility data was provided in the product input.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard component for Schedule 80 CPVC threaded piping systems accepting 1-1/4-inch FPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for CPVC piping. Shut off and depressurize the system before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an approved CPVC-compatible thread sealant or PTFE tape to the threads before assembly. Do not use pipe dope compounds or solvents formulated for PVC or metal pipe, as these may degrade CPVC material.
