The IPEX 9861106 is a CPVC Schedule 80 close nipple designed to join two female-threaded (FPT) fittings in pressurized piping systems. Manufactured from Xirtec CPVC material, this nipple carries a design stress rating of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F and supports a maximum continuous service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with occasional exposure to boiling water at 212 degrees F. The close nipple measures 0.75 inches in diameter and 3 inches in length, making it well-suited for tight-clearance installations where a standard nipple with exposed threads would not fit. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting in commercial and industrial plumbing applications.
This close nipple is used in hot and cold water distribution, industrial process piping, and chemical handling lines where corrosion resistance and thermal performance are required. The CPVC construction resists rust, pitting, scaling, and corrosion on both interior and exterior surfaces, reducing long-term maintenance needs. It is appropriate for residential, commercial, and light industrial service where Schedule 80 pressure ratings are specified.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems using 0.75-inch female-threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for CPVC piping. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Use thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for CPVC compatibility — do not use solvents or sealants that can degrade CPVC material. Hand-tighten first, then apply only moderate wrench pressure to avoid cracking the fitting.
