The IPEX 9861083 is a Schedule 80 CPVC threaded nipple designed to connect two female-threaded (FPT) fittings in industrial and commercial piping systems. Manufactured from Xirtec CPVC material, this nipple measures 0.5 inches in diameter and 5 inches in length. It carries a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with occasional tolerance for boiling water at 212 degrees F. The base design stress for this CPVC material is 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F. This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on chemical processing, industrial fluid handling, and hot and cold water distribution systems.
This nipple is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial plumbing applications where corrosion resistance and thermal tolerance are required. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added pressure-bearing capacity compared to Schedule 40 fittings, making it appropriate for higher-demand service lines. Its threaded ends allow for direct connection to any standard female NPT-threaded fitting or valve without solvent welding at the connection point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems using half-inch nominal pipe size with female NPT-threaded connections.
This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters. Shut off and depressurize the supply line before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for CPVC compatibility before threading the nipple into place. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as CPVC fittings can crack under excessive torque.
