The IPEX 9850040 is a 4-inch CPVC Schedule 80 male threaded plug designed to seal the end of a female threaded piping run. Manufactured from Xirtec CPVC material, this plug carries a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with occasional tolerance for boiling water exposure at 212 degrees F. The design stress rating for the CPVC compound is 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F, making it a reliable choice for demanding industrial and commercial plumbing applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in systems where a secure, corrosion-resistant end cap is required.
This male threaded plug is suited for use in industrial process piping, chemical distribution systems, and hot and cold water plumbing installations where CPVC Schedule 80 fittings are specified. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional strength over Schedule 40 in high-pressure or elevated-temperature environments. It is a direct threaded connection, seating into any compatible female-threaded CPVC or transition fitting of the same nominal pipe size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC female-threaded piping systems with a 4-inch nominal pipe size.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before threading in the plug. Use CPVC-compatible thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for CPVC applications. Do not use solvent cements, petroleum-based pipe dopes, or tools that could crack or stress the CPVC fitting body during tightening.
