The IPEX 9850012 is a 1-1/4 inch CPVC Schedule 80 male threaded plug designed to seal the end of a female threaded piping run. Made from chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), this plug is rated for a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with occasional exposure to boiling water at 212 degrees F. CPVC design stress is 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F, making it suitable for demanding pressure applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in industrial, commercial, and residential systems where a durable, corrosion-resistant termination point is required.
This plug is intended for use in Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems where female threaded ports need to be capped or temporarily sealed. Typical applications include chemical process lines, hot and cold water distribution, and industrial fluid handling where metal fittings are not appropriate due to corrosion concerns. The 1-1/4 inch size fits standard NPT female threaded fittings and is commonly used in both new installation and retrofit work where system pressure and elevated temperatures are present.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems with 1-1/4 inch female threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Depressurize and drain the piping system completely before installing or removing any threaded plug. Use CPVC-compatible thread sealant or tape rated for the service temperature and fluid type. Do not use metal wrenches directly on CPVC fittings without proper protection, as over-torquing can crack the fitting.
