The IPEX 9850005 is a Schedule 80 CPVC male plug with male pipe thread (MPT) connection, designed to cap and seal the end of a threaded pipe or fitting. Built from chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), this plug delivers elevated temperature and chemical resistance compared to standard PVC fittings. It is sized at 0.5 inches and is commonly installed in plumbing, industrial piping, and mechanical systems where a pressure-rated, corrosion-resistant pipe closure is required. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both new construction and retrofit applications.
The 9850005 is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems, chemical distribution lines, and industrial process piping where CPVC Schedule 80 fittings are specified. It is used to permanently or temporarily close off a 0.5-inch female-threaded port on a pipe, valve, or manifold. Its Schedule 80 wall thickness makes it appropriate for higher-pressure service compared to Schedule 40 alternatives, meeting the demands of systems that require a more robust fitting.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems using standard 0.5-inch MPT threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for CPVC piping systems. Shut off and depressurize the supply line fully before installing or removing any threaded plug. Apply an appropriate CPVC-compatible thread sealant or tape to the male threads before hand-tightening, then wrench-tighten carefully to avoid cracking the fitting. Do not use petroleum-based solvents, lubricants, or incompatible thread compounds on CPVC fittings.
