The IPEX 9839251 is a flush-style reducer bushing for CPVC Schedule 80 piping systems, connecting a 2-inch male threaded (MPT) end to a 1-1/2-inch female threaded (FPT) end. It is manufactured from CPVC rated for a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with occasional exposure to boiling water at 212 degrees F. The material carries a design stress of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F. Plumbers and pipefitters install this bushing wherever a threaded pipe run must step down in diameter within an industrial, commercial, or residential CPVC system.
This bushing is suited for Schedule 80 CPVC piping applications that require a threaded reduction from 2 inches to 1-1/2 inches. Typical install scenarios include hot and cold water distribution, chemical handling lines, and industrial process piping where corrosion resistance and elevated temperature performance are required. The flush-style design seats cleanly inside a fitting socket, keeping the overall assembly compact and minimizing dead space in tight installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for CPVC Schedule 80 threaded piping systems requiring a 2-inch to 1-1/2-inch threaded reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure completely before disassembling any threaded connections. Use a CPVC-compatible thread sealant or tape rated for the service temperature and fluid type — do not use petroleum-based compounds, which can degrade CPVC. Avoid over-torquing threaded connections, as CPVC fittings can crack under excessive mechanical stress.
