The IPEX 9838251 is a Schedule 80 CPVC flush-style reducer bushing designed to transition between a 2-inch spigot connection and a 1-1/2-inch female pipe thread (FPT) connection within a CPVC piping system. Built from Xirtec CPVC material, it carries a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with occasional exposure to boiling water up to 212 degrees F. The material is rated to a design stress of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F. Plumbers and pipefitters install this bushing when reducing line size at a threaded fitting or valve connection in industrial, commercial, or mechanical piping systems.
This bushing is suited for use in hot and cold water distribution, industrial fluid handling, and chemical process piping where CPVC Schedule 80 fittings are specified. The spigot end inserts into a Schedule 80 socket fitting for solvent-cement joining, while the female threaded end accepts a standard male NPT connection. It is a practical solution in tight spaces where a flush reducer profile reduces overall fitting length in the assembly.
Designed for use within IPEX Xirtec CPVC Schedule 80 piping systems. Compatible with standard Schedule 80 CPVC socket fittings on the spigot end and standard NPT male-threaded fittings on the female threaded end.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable local plumbing codes. Shut off system flow and relieve line pressure completely before cutting into any existing piping. Apply a listed CPVC solvent cement to the spigot end per the cement manufacturer instructions, and use the appropriate CPVC thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for thermoplastic fittings on the FPT connection. Do not use petroleum-based sealants or tools that could stress or crack the CPVC material.
