The IPEX 9838247 is a Schedule 80 CPVC reducing bushing designed to step down pipe connections within a CPVC piping system. It features a spigot inlet and a female pipe thread (FPT) outlet, allowing a 2-inch line to transition to a 1/2-inch threaded connection. Manufactured from Xirtec CPVC, this bushing is rated for a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with occasional tolerance for boiling water at 212 degrees F. The material carries a design stress rating of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in both industrial and commercial piping systems where size reduction and chemical resistance are required.
This reducing bushing is suited for use in hot and cold water distribution, chemical processing lines, and industrial fluid systems where CPVC Schedule 80 fittings are specified. The flush-style bushing profile keeps transitions compact within tight installation spaces. It is intended for use within a Schedule 80 CPVC piping system and pairs directly with standard CPVC pipe and fittings of the appropriate size.
Designed for use with Xirtec CPVC Schedule 80 piping systems. Compatible with standard 2-inch spigot sockets and 1/2-inch female-threaded fittings within a Schedule 80 CPVC system.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable plumbing codes, including IPC requirements for CPVC systems. Shut off the water supply and fully depressurize the line before cutting into existing piping. Use the appropriate CPVC solvent cement for the spigot connection and apply thread sealant compatible with CPVC on the FPT side. Do not use petroleum-based compounds or incompatible solvents, as these can degrade CPVC material.
