The IPEX 9838211 is a flush-style reducer bushing for CPVC Schedule 80 piping systems. It uses a spigot by female pipe thread (FPT) connection to step down from a 1-1/2 inch pipe to a 1 inch threaded fitting. CPVC construction gives the bushing a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with occasional tolerance for boiling water at 212 degrees F. The material carries a design stress rating of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F, making it suitable for demanding pressure applications in commercial and industrial piping. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction, system expansion, or size-transition repairs.
This bushing is intended for use in CPVC Schedule 80 piping systems where a size reduction is needed at a threaded connection point. Typical applications include hot and cold water distribution, chemical handling lines, and industrial process piping where CPVC is the specified material. The fitting accepts a spigot on the larger end and a female threaded connection on the smaller end, allowing integration with standard NPT-threaded components at the reduced side.
Designed for use with CPVC Schedule 80 piping systems using spigot and female threaded connections. Compatible with other Schedule 80 CPVC fittings and pipe in the same size range using standard CPVC solvent cement and NPT-threaded components.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber familiar with CPVC solvent-cement joining procedures and applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Depressurize and drain the affected piping section before cutting or disassembling any fittings. Apply CPVC-rated primer and solvent cement to the spigot connection; do not substitute PVC cement, as it is not rated for CPVC. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer instructions before restoring system pressure.
